Will You Be Our Valentine?

Will You Be Our Valentine?

Are you aware we are only eight days from Valentine’s Day?  No?  Well let this be a friendly reminder that you need to do something for the loved ones in your love (This Means You Too!)  You still have time to come up with the perfect gift, but don’t wait too long as this annual love day will be here before we know it!

Can We Help?

We understand that finding a gift for that special someone (including you) can be difficult, but we would love to help in any way we can.  If you or your beloved loves gardening we offer a variety of beautiful wooden planters.  From gardening to home décor the uses for our planters are limited only by your creativity.

If your garden is the love of your life you are no doubt gearing up for spring.  We are only 43 days away from the official first day of spring and now is the time to start your seedlings to get a head start on your 2017 garden.

May we suggest some new wooden window boxes to aid your indoor container gardening projects?  We offer several different types of window boxes that can suit any need.  Our most popular window box is the scalloped 570 series.  As you may notice upon browsing our products many do not have a liner option.  This is because our wooden planters are mostly made up of Northern White Cedar, which is rot resistant and doesn’t need a liner.

Are You In Love With Home Decor?

If you said yes then you are in the right place.   Our broad variety of wooden products offers many unique home décor options.  Our whiskey barrel planters are perfect for storage as they are larger than most of our products, except maybe our barrels.

Speaking of barrels, have you seen our half barrels?  These barrels are perfect for any type of storage of dry materials.  They look great in any home as they blend in and take up minimal space.  Each barrel comes with a free sign with one of six labels as well as a blank option if you would prefer to make your own label.

We Are Here For You

If you are browsing our products, but aren’t sure just yet please know we are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have.  Feel free to contact us and we will get back to you as soon as we can.  Whether you want something for a Valentine’s Day gift or if you have a unique need for new planters we would be happy to help in any way we can.

Enjoy Your Valentine’s Day and make sure to show all of your loves just how much you love them!

Winter Salad with Sprouts, Freekeh, Caramelised Squash and Buffalo Ranch Dressing (vegan recipe) — food to glow

I know, being a Floridian at heart, I should really prefer summer, but there is so much gorgeous produce to eat right now that late autumn and early winter are pretty hard to beat. Okay, maybe the British weather is a bit pants underwhelming much of the time, but the produce that’s coming in is stunning: crimson globes of […]

For What Are You Thankful?

For What Are You Thankful?

Is everyone ready for Thanksgiving or Turkey Day as many call it?  Is the family coming over for dinner or are you the lucky ones who get to travel and not cook a huge feast?

As for us, we are a mixed bunch this Thanksgiving.  Half of us are headed to family and the other half are hosting.  Both sides have their benefits, but the biggest benefit is we get to enjoy time with our families, who we may not get to see all year.  I mean, who else would we want to stuff our face with once a year?

From football games to afternoon naps Turkey Day is all about quality time with the people you love.  It is a time to be grateful for the people around your table and to give pause for the people who couldn’t make it this year.  With comfort food and warm hearts we celebrate all of our blessings, no matter in what form they come.

So for what are you thankful this year?  As you look around your home as well as your table what rounds out your top 5 things for which to show gratitude?

We like to keep it simple.  The top 5 things for which we are grateful, in no specific order: our jobs, rooves over our heads, family to love and who love us, food in our bellies, and of course the ability to garden.  Gardening has often helped us bond or spend quality time with family on many occasions as well as produce healthier food options for the whole family.  It is amazing that the earth can help us provide for our families every year and is always something for which we are ultimately grateful.

Here’s to a great Thanksgiving from all of us here at Coopersmith & Son to all of you.  We appreciate you and we wish you the best Turkey Day ever!

Will Your Home Be Spooktacular for Halloween?

Are you excited about Halloween? Is this your favorite time of year?

It is for us.  The air gets crisp, the leaves change color, and then the holiday we all wait for (besides Christmas, of course): Halloween.  The one time of the year where we can become whoever we want, we get to throw wildly creative parties, and we get to scare ourselves half out of our skin if we so choose.  Halloween is definitely the most unique holiday we have each year and it allows our creativity to flow outside the box for this crazy one night each year.

How will you be decorating your home for Halloween?  Do you have a specific theme in mind or do you just go with spooky elements all around your home?  Perhaps you don’t like the scary aspects of Halloween and you stay with a seasonally rustic décor?

No matter how you decide to decorate it will be amazing.  We have found over the years that will a little creative and DIY ingenuity you can make anything work within your own Halloween aesthetic.  For instance, found these “pumpkin” crates on Pinterest.  Wooden crates have so many uses, but this is a really unique idea to spark your imagination.  It is easy to see how wooden props can add to the rustic feel of the season as well as the holiday, but painting them can often build steam for your own Halloween themed décor.

If you do prefer the naturally organic fall look for your Halloween home décor wooden barrels would be your cup of tea.  In this picture (also found on Pinterest) one feels the fall ambiance barrels can provide.  From floral arrangements to a table top or even table legs for a buffet table top made out of a wood slab.

If simply seasonal decorations don’t work for you barrels can be used to house fake body parts or any other number of atrocious Halloween party effects.  One could also use the top of the barrel as a flat surface to place a guest book amid many bloody eyeball floral arrangements as well as fingers dipped in fake blood as pens.

When you have the right props you can make anything work for your personal Halloween concept.

So how will your Halloween go?  Super spooky? Or seasonally charming?

How Is Your Gardening Season Going?

We have been seeing so many beautiful gardens around here and the bountiful farmer’s markets to prove it.  Even areas that are suffering from drought seem to be doing relatively well.

So how are you fruit, veggies, herbs, and blooms doing this year? Were you stuck in a flooded area?  Or perhaps one of the drought zones?  The weather this year has been a trial for everyone, but it seems that most people fared well through it all.

Fall Is Coming!

Now we are into September with just a few short days until fall officially returns.  Everyone is beginning to clean up their gardens as well as begin planting for spring.  Many of you are knee deep in composting efforts as you are completing all of your fall gardening chores.  Once you begin getting your garden ready for the first frost do you stop gardening or do you continue on by using container gardening as your method of choice?

Container Gardening

Container gardening  is always a great option as you can still enjoy homegrown foods you love as well as freshly cut blooms all year round.  If you do participate in container gardening, where do you place your planters?  On your porch? Mud room? Kitchen?  Where do you find you receive the best gardening results?

Produce Preservation

Often if container gardening is not your thing you will preserve your garden surplus so you will have fresh produce all winter long.  There are a lot of great online tutorials if you have never canned before as well as tutorials for canning many different fruits and veggies.  If you feel unsure you can just google it, which is so much easier than the trial and error our ancestors went through each year with their preserves.
